3 Dentist Hygentists serve the Lord by going to Ysleta, Mexico@ K20!
Yes, the famed three were there for 5 days, taking care of 101 patients, the heat was intense, the staff was great, the need was breath taking. Read all about the patients, the children, the hugs and the satisfaction of taking care of our Mexican brothers and sisters at K20.
Meet three women dedicated to a mission that only be a mission spoken to their hearts from our Awesome God!
Karen Malek
Erin Peters
Patricia (trish) De Dios
Karen treats a man with the help of Marty. On the right you can see Trish, treating Rita while her son sleeps on her right leg...he wouldn't leave her
Karen and Lisa celebrating the right to relax and have a Coca-Cola at the Juarez Market. We stopped here to relax, shop before getting on the bridge for the final crossing for our Mission week. Hard week but so rewarding!
Erin Peters and Patricia De Dios, they both garduated from school and their 1st assignment = Mexico for a mission trip. We thank God that they came, they helped many people and made the Dental Team grow from 1 to 3 for this years trip! Karen so appreciated the help and we were amazed with the way they worked.
Trish and Erin with a future patient, i think they took care of him on Thursday. He usually came on his bike and wanted to join the VBS time but also wanted to take charge. He wanted attention and love is all.
This picture was flooded in light, His Holy presence? I say, "yes"!, it was really bright, hot and humid at times on site..and sometimes with some air circulation. I thank God for watching over us.
Trish starting treatment with young patient. They all worked in the same tent and with 2 tables near them and the assistance of Marty and Tony.
ON Monday the dental clinic worked with little separation from the house building and the VBS table..there were kids in the clinic all the time...staring and in the way. On Tuesday we arranged partitions with bed sheets and some more covering from the Sun with tarps. You can see behind Erin, someone working to get a tarp up.
Erin with a child near her left side, without partitions they were everywhere...the 3 of them worked hard to be focused and get through the day..but it changed on Tuesday morning..with the partitions up, the children were outside the clinic.
Tony the assistant was a great help, translating and keeping track of the schedule for each day. Trish to the left of him and Erin to the right..this was a great team to watch in action.
Karen with a little girl and Erin with a young man and Trish with a middle aged women. They treated all ages, elderly women as well. Pastor Hernandez and his wife were seen by them as well!
Tony on August 5th, Tuesday- you can see the bed sheet next to Erin and then was another to the right of Tony. This helped greatly to keep the children out of the clinic..you can see in this photo the VBS table. The children were really close to the clinic, they were so interested to see what was happening to the patients.

The Three Musketeers! At their square table getting supplies and at times talking over a certain patients needs. Karen was always available to guide them and offer her best knowledge.
The Dental Clinic , you can see clearly here how it was sectioned off.
In this photo you can see the mountains as our backdrop. God was always present.
Back at the Ysleta Lutheran Mission, the young girls opened a Dental Clinic outside our barracks! YLM has a warehouse where a Dental Chair and dental tables were there, so the girls with Charlie's help got them all cleaned up and set up a clinic right outside the barracks! They had a lot of energy!
Erin and Karen, part of a great team!
The politician , he got this name since he got himself seen according to his plan! He tricked me and Tony. He got seen on the day he arrived and told us he couldn't be seen any other day.

Could this be the look for the new St.Peter-St.Paul Lutheran
church in Mexico at K30?
The Mission trip of 2008 for Mexico at Kil.20 is over for us, in Chicago and Wisconsin. Please keep praying for this community which we started relations with last year.
Pastor Hernandez has on going talks with the churches in Mexico and searching for Synod help to open a new mission, a new church at Kil 27. Last year we worked at Kil27 and built Cicylia a new home...that site is the wish for a new mission.

As a group we're excited with our involvement with this work. The new church could be named St.Peter-St.Paul. Please remember them in your prayers. This is the church at San Pablo in El Paso, our home while we were there for a week. On the grounds of Ysleta Lutheran Mission, you can visit the website at http://www.ylm.org/
In September, St. Paul, Norwood Park will have their next fundraiser for the trip in 2009...stay tuned for details.
Christ reaches out to the nations and He is being active with Mexico, Ciudad Juarez at Kil 27!
The Lutheran Churches in Mexico, on this map you can locate the Ysleta Mission in El Paso and locate Santisima Trinidad in Juarez. We visited Santisima Trinidad everyday on our way to Kil.20.
You can also locate the church Martin Lutero church which is near to Kil 20 and Kil27 (last years site), to get an idea where we were this year and to the the distance we went on last years trip to to Kil 27.
